Certification Overview

The Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA) certification, awarded by the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI), is a prestigious credential that signifies a high level of professional achievement in the hospitality industry. It recognizes individuals with extensive knowledge and experience in hotel management, including areas such as operations, financial management, marketing, and human resources, highlighting their commitment to excellence and leadership in the field.

E-Course Duration: 30 to 35 Hours

Exam Information

  • The test has 100 multiple-choice questions. To pass, you need to get 75 of them right, which is 75%.

Tests are done online and watched over by a webcam. As long as you have a good internet connection, you can take the test

  • The test lasts for two hours, which is the same as 120 minutes.

  • During the exam monitored by ProctorU, you can't use any outside sources of information. They'll give you specific instructions about what materials you're allowed to use, like your ID.

  • If you don't pass the exam on your second try, you have to wait at least fourteen days before you can take it again for the third time or any time after that. You can take the exam as many times as you need to.

  • The Certified hotel administrator (CHA)® certification never expires.

  • CHA® is a trademark registered by GIPMC.

  • Passing the CHA® exam will give candidates 137 learning hours and 9 credits toward an MBA in General Management from Charisma University.

  • You don't need any prerequisites to get the Certified hotel administrator (CHA)® Certification. However, we strongly suggest taking the E-Course, even though it's not required from GIPMCBok portal. This is because many questions in the actual exam come from the E-Course.

Module 1 – People Management

    • Build teams to achieve goals and objectives; – Lead people development and talent management; – Devise and apply strategies to establish and maintain workplace relationships; – Manage a diverse work force to add value; – Apply the principles of ethics to improve organisational culture

Module 2 – Workplace Management

    • Develop, implement and evaluate an operational plan; – Formulate recommendations for a change process; – Analyse leadership and related theories in a work context; – Apply mathematical analysis to economic and financial information; – Use communication techniques effectively.

Module 3 – Decision Making

    • Apply a systems approach to decision making; – Apply the principles of knowledge management; – Create and manage an environment that promotes innovation; – Monitor and evaluate team members against performance standards; – Monitor, assess and manage risk; Unit 6 – Select and coach first line managers;

Module 4 – Unit Management

    • Develop, implement and evaluate a project plan; – Manage the finances of a unit; – Recognise areas in need of change, make recommendations and implement change in the team, department or division; – Develop and implement a strategy and action plans for a team, department or division; – Apply financial analysis.

Module 5 – Strategic Management

     

    • Evaluate and plan the role of self as leader in a function
    • Manage relationships with strategic partners to improve the performance of a function
    • Manage the information and institutional knowledge within a function
    • Manage and improve communication processes in a function
    • Appraise, develop and retain human capital for a function

Target Audience

The CHA® Certification is aimed at potential managers, entrepreneurs and investment professionals who are interested in addressing the needs of low-income populations, especially in developing countries. The course seeks to provide an understanding of how business approaches can address low income markets that represent the largest components of developing economies, both in numbers of people as well as total income. The course materials explore the commercial viability of such markets, and looks at the impact of such commercial approaches on the social development of the populations involved, as well as the profits of the enterprise.
