Certification Overview

Achieving the IALTB® designation demonstrates proficiency in software testing principles and practices, showcasing the necessary skills to manage the software testing function. The IALTB® Certification is valuable for IT upper management to assess the potential success of candidates for management roles. It also offers IT professionals an objective evaluation of their management abilities. Developed based on the Test Management Body of Knowledge (TMBOK), the IALTB® Certification aims to bridge the gap in management skills required by test managers and leads to effectively oversee the test process, projects, and organizations. Its objectives include: - Assisting individuals in enhancing their test management skills through formal education - Establishing a common skill set for software test managers and leads based on defined knowledge - Building a pool of qualified software test managers - Preparing test professionals, particularly those with Master Level Certification, for management and lead roles in software testing projects - Providing professional recognition and career advancement for test project managers The certification includes an E-Course with a duration of 30 to 35 hours. It aligns with the e-Competence Framework (e-CF), which maps the certificate against recognized competencies.

E-Course Duration: 30 to 35 hours

Exam Information

  • The exam consists of 100 Multiple Choice Questions. To pass, candidates need to achieve a score of 70%, which means getting 70 out of 100 questions correct.
  • Candidates have the option to schedule an exam for the Certified Software Tester - Advanced Level (CSTAL) - Test Manager based on ISTQB Syllabus at the same time.

  • Exams are done online and monitored using a webcam. With a stable internet connection, you can take the exams from anywhere and at any time.

  • The exam lasts for 70 minutes in total.

  • During the exam through ProctorU, you can't use any outside materials. You'll need to show some ID.

  • If you don't pass the exam on your second try, you have to wait at least fourteen days before trying again for the third time or any time after that. You can take the exam as many times as you need.

  • The IALTB® Certificate is valid for five (5) years. To renew it, candidates can either retake the exam or complete the E-Course for IALTB® to earn continuing education units (CEUs). Renewing the certificate ensures that candidates maintain their professional status and credentials. It's important to renew certificates before they expire to keep them current.

  • IALTB® is a trademark registered by GIPMC.

  • Please note that to attain the ISTQB Advanced Level Test Manager (IALTM)® Certification, it is required to complete an E-Course from GIPMCBok portal. This is because most of the questions in the actual exam are based on the content covered in the E-Course.
